The short version
- You can use our tools without an account.
- NexPair sends file contents directly between your two browsers over an encrypted connection. We do not keep copies of your files.
- We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used.
- If you contact us, we receive what you write in the form.
What we collect
When you browse the site
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4. It sets cookies and records things like the pages you visit, roughly where you are (country or city), your device and browser type, and how you arrived. Google processes your IP address to do this. We use these reports to see which pages and tools people use.
- Hosting logs. Our hosting provider, Vercel, keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses and request details, to run and protect the site.
When you use NexPair
NexPair has no accounts. To connect two devices, our server briefly holds:
- Pairing details: the transfer’s session ID and short pairing code, and protected (hashed) keys that prove which device is the sender and which is the receiver.
- Connection details: the technical messages the two browsers exchange to connect to each other. These include network addresses (such as IP addresses) of both devices.
- File details: the names, types, sizes and checksums of the files you choose to send, so the receiving device can check each file arrived intact.
This information is deleted automatically after about 10 minutes.
Your files themselves travel directly between the two browsers over an encrypted connection. When a direct connection is not possible, the encrypted data passes through a relay server run by our provider Metered; the relay cannot read it and does not store it. Files never become public downloads.
To prevent people guessing pairing codes, we keep a protected (hashed) form of your IP address for 60 seconds after a failed code entry.
When you contact us or share an idea
Our forms are handled by Formspree. We receive your name, email address, what you need, your budget if you give one, and your message. We use them only to reply to you and, if you share an idea, to prepare a plan and a quote.
